Matilda Flood is a freelance illustrator and animator based in Medway, Kent. She illustrates a diverse range of subjects with an aesthetic influenced by the opulence of Northern Renaissance art and contemporary takes on historical narratives.

Matilda began her creative studies on her foundation course at the University for the Creative Arts Rochester (2018-19), specialising in visual communication. Knowing that illustration was her passion she chose to pursue further education at UCA Canterbury (2019-2022) with a BA in illustration and animation.

Since graduating with a First Class Honours in 2022, Matilda has been working as a freelance illustrator as well as workshop facilitator, working within the local community.

Botanical illustration and the art of surface design has captivated Matilda over the last year with a push for more interior design related projects, including fabric and wallpaper design. The way in which Matilda works allows for her style to become transferable, with some wallpaper and fabric designs becoming album artwork.
